Family Engagement Specialist
Charlestown Family Engagement Network (CFEN) | Boston Family Engagement Network (BFEN)
Reports to: Director of Community Services
Status: Part-time, Hourly (20 hours/week)
Compensation: $20-$25/hour
Job Summary: We are seeking parents* of young children who want to strengthen their neighborhood for themselves and other families. You are your child’s first teacher! We would like to work together with you towards healthy development of young children in our community, through parent leadership training and activities in the neighborhood.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Community Development
· Work closely with the Charlestown Family Engagement Network (CFEN) and the Boston Family Engagement Network (BFEN) teams to engage with families in Charlestown
Ages and Stages Social Emotional (ASQ S/E)
· Attend ASQ and ASQ SE trainings
· Responsible for implementation of the ASQ-S/E in Charlestown
· Identify and connect families with appropriate community resources and referrals
Early Childhood Family Engagement Coordination
· Plan and schedule morning and afternoon children’s programming each quarter
· Implement at least one early childhood family engagement program each quarter
· Supports parent partners in their implementation and development of curricula for programs
· Promote programs to include a diverse group of families
· Manage family registration and communicate changes around programming
· Administer surveys each quarter and use data to inform program planning
· Order supplies and books for programs
· Coordinate programming for new and expecting mothers, including scheduling and administering Welcome Baby Visits and monthly Baby Basics Pop-Ups
Other Duties
· Attend all Learning Communities and Core Leadership trainings
· Attend regular supervision with the CFEN Leadership team at the neighborhood level
· Maintain current partnerships (Raising a Reader, NEMPAC, MGH IHP, MGH High St., Charlestown sports teams, NAPS, etc.) and seek out new partnerships that help provide needed services to clients
· Organize, submit and pick up Cradles 2 Crayons orders monthly
· Spearhead Holiday Toy Drive, including registering families, matching donors to families, and ordering items needed for JFK-sponsored families
· Support additional community projects and initiatives assigned by the Director of Community Services and BFEN leadership team.
Eligibility: Parents of color, low-income parents, and parents of children with special needs are encouraged to apply.
Location: Citywide training will be virtual and/or in locations that are accessible by public transportation with parking.
Level of impact: Neighborhood level and Boston, citywide.
