Education Services

The Kennedy Center began providing early educational and childcare services in the early 1960s with a small number of children. Today we offer early education, childcare and after school services to just under 200 children per day in our education program.

The Kennedy Center believes in the importance of developing, inspiring, and growing young minds to their fullest capacity. The Board of Directors and staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality early education, childcare and educationally based after school programs.

The Kennedy Center specializes in child centered early education that inspires children’s learning and builds new skills that have a lasting impact. Our developmentally age appropriate education offers the right combination of instructive play and academic focus. Our curriculum includes daily integrated Math, Science and Social Study Themes, Literacy instruction, predictable classroom routines, time tested instructional formats, progressive skill training modules, ongoing progress assessments and effective parent teacher communication. Our educational service design provides the opportunity for every child to develop the skills needed to enter kindergarten fully prepared to succeed.

Kennedy Center Early Education programs are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

ALL Kennedy Center education programs are located in Charlestown Massachusetts and serve the greater Boston area and surrounding communities.

Kennedy Center educators are certified by the Department of Early Education and Care most have an Associates, Bachelor, or Master’s degree in early education. All educator receives 25 to 30 hours of professional training annually and creates an individualized professional development plan that defines their educational goals for each successive year.

All Kennedy Center educators are subject to a duel criminal records background review form both the State of Massachusetts and the Department of Children and Families prior to working with the children.

All Kennedy Center classrooms adhere to or surpass the Massachusetts Department for Early Education and Care student teacher ratio regulations.

Kennedy Center sites have secure entrances that are monitored by staff and no one is allowed entrance without proper identification. Teacher will only release children to individuals that they can clearly identify as being on the authorized release list and that have verified their identify via photo identification.  We will not release any child to an unauthorized pick-up person or an authorized person who comes without photo identification.

The Kennedy Center encourage all parent to take an active role in the development and implementation of their children’s educational experience by participating in field trips, workshops, cultural celebrations, volunteering in the classroom and fund raising activities.

The Kennedy Center’s Parent Handbooks will provide more detailed information about the our early educational services and program policies and procedures.



“Resources for Early Learning” has media-based tools and tips for parents and families. These tools are fun, free, and easy to use.
